Thai Name: Pak Chup Paeng Tod (ผักชุบแป้งทอด)
Origins: Tempura-style fried vegetables have a fascinating and well-travelled history that arrived in Thailand through the same centuries-old network of Asian trading routes that shaped so much of the Thai kitchen. The technique of coating fresh vegetables in a light, delicate batter before frying — allowing the natural flavour and colour of the vegetable to shine through a coating that adds crunch without heaviness — was embraced and refined by Thai cooks who understood immediately that this method suited the fresh, vibrant seasonal vegetables of the Thai market better than any heavier preparation. In Thailand, batter-fried vegetables are found at street food markets and family restaurants across the country, valued for their ability to turn a simple selection of fresh produce into something golden, crispy and deeply satisfying without overwhelming the natural character of what is inside. The sweet chilli dipping sauce served alongside — one of the most versatile and beloved condiments in all of Thai cooking — adds the essential Thai dimension of sweet heat that transforms the dish from a simple fried vegetable into something that belongs unmistakably and completely to the Thai table.
Our Version: At Sireeya’s Taste of Thailand, every portion of Tempura Vegetables is handmade by Sireeya herself using a carefully made light batter that coats each piece of the fresh mixed vegetable medley delicately and evenly — thin enough to let the natural colour and flavour of the vegetables show through, substantial enough to create that satisfying golden layer that makes this dish so irresistible straight from the fryer. The vegetables are fried to order until perfectly golden brown all the way around and served immediately with a sweet chilli dipping sauce that brings the whole dish together with its characteristic balance of sweetness and gentle heat.
What You Get: A golden-brown medley of fresh mixed vegetables handmade by Sireeya in a delicate homemade light batter. Served with sweet chilli dipping sauce.
Tempura Vegetables are light, crispy and completely satisfying — here’s what our customers love ordering alongside them to build a complete and well-balanced Thai meal.
🥥 Massaman Curry
Tempura Vegetables followed by Massaman Curry is one of the most naturally balanced and satisfying meal progressions. The light, crispy golden batter of the vegetables provides an elegant and unfussy opening that builds perfectly into the deep, slow-cooked richness of Sireeya’s Massaman — made with authentic curry paste sourced directly from Koh Lanta in Southern Thailand and simmered in creamy coconut milk with roasted peanuts and fragrant whole spices. Where the tempura is delicate and light, the Massaman is warm, enveloping and deeply comforting — and that progression from one to the other feels completely natural and completely satisfying from the very first piece of crispy vegetable to the very last spoonful of curry.
🍜 Coconut Soup — Tom Kha
Tempura Vegetables alongside Tom Kha Coconut Soup is a pairing of warmth, fragrance and complete Thai comfort. The gentle, creamy coconut broth with lemongrass, galangal and kaffir lime provides a soothing, aromatic companion to the crispy golden vegetables — the silky soup and the crunchy tempura offering a contrast of texture and temperature that keeps every mouthful interesting and alive. The sweet chilli dipping sauce from the tempura echoes the gentle heat running through the coconut broth, creating a quiet but convincing flavour connection between the two dishes that makes the meal feel genuinely considered rather than simply assembled.
🌿 Pad Galam Cha
A pairing built around a shared celebration of fresh vegetables treated with a light, confident touch. Sireeya’s wok-tossed cabbage with garlic, oyster sauce, fish sauce and golden fried garlic shares the same vegetable-forward philosophy as the Tempura medley — both dishes demonstrating that the finest Thai cooking does not always require complex spicing or dramatic heat to deliver something genuinely memorable. Together they create a meal that is cohesive, fresh and deeply satisfying — ideal for customers who want a Thai meal that feels vibrant and vegetable-centred without sacrificing depth of flavour or authenticity.
🌶️ Larb Tod
One of the most exciting and dynamic pairings on this list. Larb Tod — crispy fried balls of minced meat with shallots, mint, dried chilli, lime juice and fragrant toasted rice — brings bold, herby, fiercely seasoned character to the table after the clean, delicate crunch of the Tempura Vegetables, taking the meal in a completely unexpected and thrilling direction. The contrast between the two dishes — from light and neutral to fierce and aromatic — is one of the most satisfying flavour escalations and one that rewards customers willing to look beyond the most obvious pairings.
