Origins: Goong Hom Pha — which translates beautifully as “prawns wrapped in a blanket” — is a classic Thai street food starter with roots in the bustling seafood markets and coastal night bazaars of Thailand. Found sizzling at stalls from Bangkok’s Chatuchak market to the beachside vendors of Hua Hin, these golden wrapped prawns are a staple of Thai entertaining culture, as popular at family gatherings as they are on the street.
Our Version: At Sireeya’s Taste of Thailand, every Goong Hom Pha is handmade by Sireeya herself using fresh whole prawns carefully wrapped and sealed before being gently deep fried to order. The result is a perfectly crispy golden shell that gives way to a juicy, tender prawn inside — a combination of texture and flavour that a shop-bought version simply cannot match.

We chose spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce to start. Then beef in oyster sauce with fried rice which was cooked to our liking, very generous portions We will definitely be ordering again.

I can not rave about this food enough, i have recommended it to so many friends and family who have loved it. My go to it masaman curry and pad kra pao, the wife absolutely loves the papaya salad, she even made us waterfall pork which wasn’t on the menu 10/10
